Although it was tough it did highlight my determination and work ethic as I was working weekends at the time too. In the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh I also had to participate in an expedition. I did preparation for the expedition by doing things like route planning and I also received brief first aid training, like how to put people in the recovery position. The expedition was two days and one night with the first day being around a 10 mile walk, with gear, from Leigh to Billinge. In this expedition I gathered skills that can't be taught like genuine teamwork and problem solving. For example, on my journey the map was slightly difficult at times through fields, but I and my group were able to use initiative and find our way back on track to the destination. We developed teamwork skills as we helped one another build a tent, cook food and other things. Overall the expedition granted me skills like resilience, teamwork, practical skills and more.
