Mental Health First Aid
I aspire to support others who are tapering from Benzodiazepines and other sleeping aids and psychiatric medications. In 2021, I contracted a severe case of COVID-19 and my nervous system began experiencing recurring cycles of dysregulation. I was prescribed benzodiazepines for sleep, and other supporting pharmaceuticals and have since tapered successfully three times. I have participated in trainings and communities to better understand and support others who are going through similar issues. I completed the 40-hour Peer Recovery Coach training through Advocates for Recovery and the Benzodiazepine Peer Support Training with the Colorado Consortium. I am actively involved in benzodiazepine awareness and advocacy through the Benzodiazepine Action Work Group. I am fulfilling the requirements for certification with the state, and all certification requirements will be complete after I fulfill the 500 hours of supervised peer coaching. I bring a solid foundation of both peer and professional experience in mental health and caregiving.

What inspires me now is the chance to make a difference as a Peer Recovery Coach, particularly for those navigating the often overwhelming process of tapering. Having successfully completed a microdosing taper with a provider recommended by the Benzodiazepine Information Coalition, and the Ashton Manual, I understand the complex challenges firsthand. My goal is to offer hope, encouragement, and practical support to others on this path. I am reliable, ethical, and thrive in collaborative environments. Joining a team would be a privilege, and I would bring both lived experience and professional dedication to the role. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how I can contribute to this much needed work.
