1994 I started my career as an EMT with the USAF in Fairfield, California. When I graduated with my RN license I began working in the Resource pool specializing in Acute care for NICU, Pediatrics, OB/GYN and Med/Surg Float. I knew that I always wanted to be a NP so I did not specialize in one area my whole career. I wanted as an RN to be a well Rounded Nurse and be able to work in any area of need. My love has always been working in NICU and Acute care settings. I also started to work with Mental Health and Addictions while I was a RN for I felt the need was apparent at the bedside and during difficult times. I am proud to say that I have floated to Community Health Network, Peds ICU, Pediatrics, Med/Surg, and would float to the ED to assis with over flow and "hard to stick" patients and children.
I decided to work at Wishard Infections Disease Unit, Med/Surg, and over-flow ED as a RN for several years before I graduated from IUPUI in 2010. At that time, I transitioned into roles where I have continued Acute care roles as a sole provider in a rural healthcare clinic for several years, took travel assignments with Community at MedChecks to keep my Acute care skills of suturing, rapid response, blood draws, and minor surgical procedures. After the last 4 years of Addiction Medicine and Worker's Comp Clinic here at GM, I am ready to venture off back into the Acute care setting to continue my lifes work.
