  • Substrate damping in guinea fowl locomotion
  • Investigated body, joint, and limb dynamics of guinea fowl (Numida meleagris) in response to energy-dissipating perturbation during locomotion (e.g. Sand)
  • Trained 10 guinea fowl individuals to run in controlled environment and conducted and collected data of multiple trials for each individual in three different conditions
  • Digitized 210 high speed videos of trials using DeepLabCut, a deep neural network-based software, and contributed to data analysis
  • Created comprehensive guide on how to use DeepLabCut, making it accessible to other students in lab who are working on different comparative biomechanics projects

  • Recruited 60 participants for STREAM project, an interdisciplinary study part of the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Pilot Program

Extracurricular Activities & Community Involvement

Brazilian Jiujitsu Club at UCI

  • Served the club as President for 4 years, bringing the “gentle art” of Brazilian Jiujitsu to the college community to establish a place of belonging while learning discipline and self-defense
  • Led and coordinated a board of officers in planning 4-5 social events per year to foster community and camaraderie between members off the mat, organizing fundraisers to generate over $1,000 in revenue, and maintaining high level of compliance with Club Sports administration across my years in leadership
  • Increased the club’s attendance and retention rate from 7 regular attendees to over 25-30 actively participating members
  • Taught proper grappling techniques and demonstrated specific drills for building positional awareness to many new grapplers, providing individualized attention as needed to help each student develop and perfect their technique during training sessions with 25-30 members
  • Collaborated with executive boards of other BJJ clubs in Southern California (UCLA, CSUN, USC, etc.) to organize intercollegiate events such as inter-club open mats and intercollegiate competitions (such as the Anteater Invitational) under USA Grappling; working towards establishing the first collegiate grappling league in Southern California

Canopy Church

  • Currently volunteering on Worship team as sound mixer, assisting in set-up and running sound check for band of 3-6 instrumentalists (12 in total) for a weekly congregation of ~80 members of the church community
