As an optician I help with the selction of a patients frames. I help find the right fit, shape, and size to best suit the patient. After the selction of the frame I help the patient decide what is the best lens option for them. While choosing the lenses I help them decide other options that may suit them from light weight lenses, anti-reflective coatings to transistions. It is also my job to get proper measurements for each lens design. After all options have been chosen I then go over pricing and bill the patient. I also file insurence claims for patients with vision plans. Once a patients glasses come in from the lab it is my job to check them in. I do this by making sure the prescription is correct with the lensometer and then contacting the patient to let them know they have arrived. I am also in charge of dispensing the glasses to the patients. This consists of making sure vision is good and the glasses fit properly and comfortably. Daily housework and chores are also done around the office.
As a technician/optician I would assist with all pretesting. This included glaucoma tests, testing for colorblindness and depth perception. I also had to read and verify previous prescriptions with a lensometer. I was also in charge of distributing contact lenses. For new patients I had to assist with insertion, removal and proper care. as an optician I would help patients find frames that were the best fit and option for them. I would also assist with minor repairs too. Along with helping patients I would also shedule appointments and follow ups, file and organize patient charts and light daily housework.
As an assistant manager my main goal was to make sure the department ran smoothly. I did this by making sure all customers were greeted in a timely manner by either myself or another employee. While on the floor I would assist customers by helping them locate the merchandise they were looking for in our department or others as well. Light housework was done daily along with the organization of the floor and stock room.
As a jewelry lead I would assist customers who were looking to purchase jewelry as a gift or for themselves. I would help educate them on the different styles, cuts and clarity of various gemstones. I would also assist with cleaning jewerly and light repairs. If needed I would also often assist in other departments thoughout the store. Whether it be helping with transaction or setting up displays.
I have also spent many years volunteering in youth sports programs. Around 9 years ago I started coaching youth cheer. I did this for 3 years. After that I began coaching cheer at the Odell Grade School. I coached there for 4 years. I am currently coaching cheer for Pontiac JFL.
