Additional Information
Since I was a little girl I've always loved fashion. Growing up I was labeled as the girl who dressed different or the girl who wore a lot of different colors. I didn't have a person that I was mocking I've always wore what I wanted rather it was a trending style or not. When I was a student at Bay View High School it was a requirement that I took a sewing class and I actually loved it because I had a chance to be creative. Luckily my mom saw my drive and purchased me a sewing machine. But to be honest I was young and and know what I really wanted to do so that machine sat in my closet for years.
Lets fast forward to 2020 when things got serious. I turned my mom garage into a store to resale clothes that I purchased from a vendor. Things were going well but my vendor started to slack and I wasn't satisfied. I didn't want to go back to working a 9-5 so after a lot of prayers and watching multiple DIYS I decided to take sewing more serious. I started making TikTok and I started going viral for making outfits from shower curtains, regular curtains, bath mats, etc. I grew an audience and my audience eventually turned into my clients.
Now we're here in 2021 where I decided to turn things up a notch. I invested in myself and decided to rebrand my business. 2021 is the year I decided to name my business "D'StitchedIt" which stands for "Denishia Stitched It" I love this name because it stands out from other designers / seamstress. Finally I can proudly say I've been sewing for a whole year self taught and I have lots more room to grow.
Now I'm currently a proud student at Madison College for Fashion Marketing. which is probably one of the best decisions I've made in my life. I decided to enroll in school for more opportunities in the fashion industry.
Fashion is my escape place. Anytime I feel down or not in the mood picking up a peace of fabric to create something beautiful because that always makes me feel better.
